Snowball is a personal finance tracker for iOS that helps you manage transactions, budgets, goals, and spending analytics. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
1. Local Storage
Snowball is designed to work locally. Your financial data — transactions, budgets, goals, profile name, and preferences — is stored on your own device. We do not require an account, login, or registration, and we do not keep a profile of you on our servers.
2. AI Statement Import (Pro feature)
When you use the optional Import statement with AI feature, the app extracts text from the PDF file you choose and sends the transaction information (description, amount, and date) to our server (apps.devskin.com), which forwards it to OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini model) solely to classify each transaction into a category.
- This data is used only for the requested categorization and returned to your device.
- We do not store the contents of your statement after processing.
- This transfer only happens when you explicitly trigger the import. If you do not use the feature, no financial data leaves your device.
3. Subscriptions
Snowball offers subscriptions (Snowball Pro) processed by Apple via StoreKit. We neither receive nor store your card or payment details — all billing is handled by Apple. See Apple's privacy policy for payment processing details.
4. What We Do Not Collect
Snowball does not use advertising SDKs, third-party trackers, or analytics tools. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
5. Permissions
- Files/Documents: to select the statement PDF you want to import.
- Notifications (optional): for budget and goal reminders.
These permissions are optional and can be revoked at any time in Settings > Snowball on iOS.
6. Security
We follow iOS security practices: storage protected by the system sandbox and encrypted (HTTPS) communication with our server.
7. Children
Snowball is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Your Rights
You can edit or delete any record directly in the app and erase all data via Settings > Clear all data or by uninstalling the app.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
