Privacy Policy

SplitFair is an app for splitting bills fairly among friends. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the app and how we protect your data. SplitFair is developed by DevSkin.
1. No Registration or Account
SplitFair does not require creating an account, logging in, or signing up. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, address, photo, or any personal identifier to use the app. You can start splitting bills immediately, without providing personal data.
2. Information We Handle
So that bill splitting works and stays in sync among the participants of a group, the app handles only the strictly necessary data:
- Group codes: the unique code that identifies each bill-splitting group.
- Bill items: the description of consumed items (for example, "pizza", "soda") and who consumed them.
- Amounts: item prices, optional tip, and the total calculated for each participant.
- Participant nicknames: the name or nickname each person chooses to type to identify themselves within the group (freely entered, not verified).
- Payment status: the marking of who has already paid or still owes within the group.
We do not handle sensitive financial data: SplitFair does not process payments and does not access cards, bank accounts, or digital wallets.
3. Data Storage
SplitFair data is stored in two places:
- On your device: groups, items, and amounts are saved locally on your device for fast access and offline use.
- On a secure synchronization server: so that all participants of a group can see the bill in real time, the group data (code, items, amounts, and payment status) is transmitted to and stored on a secure server, accessible only to those who have the group code.
4. Purpose of the Synchronization Server
The server is used solely to synchronize group data among participants in real time. It is not used for profiling, advertising, or any commercial purpose.
5. Data Sharing
SplitFair does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. A group's data is only visible to people who have the corresponding group code. When you use the share function via WhatsApp, SMS, or another app, it is you who explicitly chooses what to share and with whom.
6. Data Retention
A group's data remains stored while the group is active and useful to the participants. You can delete a group at any time through the app, which removes the associated data from your device. Inactive groups on the synchronization server are periodically removed after a period of inactivity. When you uninstall the app, the data stored locally on the device is erased.
7. Security
We follow good security practices to protect data in transit and at rest, including transmission over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and group access restricted to those who have the code. No method of transmission or storage is 100% infallible, but we work to maintain an adequate level of protection.
8. Children
SplitFair is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in the app or in applicable law. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
