How does GestaPlena work?
You enter your Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and GestaPlena automatically calculates your current pregnancy week and estimated due date. Each week, the app shows content about baby development, expected symptoms, and tips. You also have a personal diary, a trimester checklist, and can look up the meaning of baby names.
Is GestaPlena free?
Yes, completely free. There are no paid plans, subscriptions, in-app purchases, or ads.
What is the LMP and why is it so important?
LMP stands for Last Menstrual Period — the first day of your last menstrual cycle before pregnancy. From it, the app calculates your current week (pregnancy = 280 days / 40 weeks) and estimated due date. It's the baseline reference for the entire tracking.
What if I don't know the exact LMP?
We recommend having an early ultrasound with your OB/GYN — professional dating is more accurate. You can then adjust the LMP in the app to reflect the gestational age indicated by your doctor.
How do I edit the LMP after saving?
Go to Profile > Edit pregnancy and change the date. The current week and estimated due date will be updated automatically.
What appears each week?
For each pregnancy week (1 to 40), the app presents: baby size comparison with a fruit/object, fetal development milestones, common symptoms for that phase, practical tips, and educational content.
How does the trimester checklist work?
The checklist provides a suggested list of exams, appointments, and care items organized by trimester (T1: weeks 1-13, T2: 14-27, T3: 28-42). Check off items as you complete them and track your progress visually.
How does the pregnancy diary work?
In the diary you can log free text about the day, track symptoms (nausea, fatigue, anxiety, etc.) and add photos — of your belly, exams, or special moments. Everything is saved locally on your device.
How does the baby name meaning feature work?
You type a name and GestaPlena returns its origin, meaning, and curiosities. This query is made through our server using artificial intelligence (OpenAI GPT-4o-mini). Results are cached for 30 days to speed up future lookups.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not for primary use. All pregnancy tracking (weeks, diary, checklist) works 100% offline. The only feature that requires connectivity is the name meaning lookup.
Is my data safe?
Yes. All your personal data (LMP, diary, photos, checklist) is stored only on your device via AsyncStorage. Nothing is sent to external servers — except queried names, and even those are not linked to you. See our Privacy Policy.
How do I delete a diary entry or photo?
In the Diary tab, open the desired entry and use the trash icon to delete it.
How do I reset the pregnancy or delete everything?
In Profile > Settings > Delete data you can wipe the app. Alternatively, uninstalling removes all information from the device.
Does GestaPlena replace a consultation with an OB/GYN?
No. GestaPlena is an informational and personal tracking tool, not a medical service. Always consult your OB/GYN for health decisions, exams, medications, and warning signs.
