Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
GestaPlena was created as an intimate, caring companion for your pregnancy journey. Your privacy and your baby's are our top priority. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
GestaPlena is offline-first: nearly all data is stored exclusively on your device via AsyncStorage.
- Pregnancy data: Last Menstrual Period (LMP), current calculated week, estimated due date, and pregnant person's name (if entered). Stored locally on your device.
- Pregnancy diary: Text entries, tracked symptoms, belly photos, and personal notes. Stored locally.
- Trimester checklist: Items checked off in each trimester (T1, T2, T3). Stored locally.
- Baby name meanings (optional): When you look up the meaning of a baby name, the name is sent to our server for AI processing. Details in section 5.
2. How We Use Your Information
Collected information is used exclusively to:
- Calculate current pregnancy week and estimated due date from the LMP
- Display weekly personalized content (baby size, development, expected symptoms)
- Keep the diary and checklist in sync with your current trimester
- Send local reminders about important pregnancy milestones
- Return meanings and curiosities about queried baby names
3. Data Storage
Your personal pregnancy data (LMP, diary, checklist, photos) is stored exclusively on your device via Expo/React Native AsyncStorage. GestaPlena has no servers of its own for storing this personal data and does not sync to the cloud.
Uninstalling the app permanently removes all local data from the device.
4. Data Sharing
GestaPlena does not sell, rent, or share any personal information or pregnancy data with third parties. Sensitive personal data (LMP, diary, photos) never leaves your device.
5. Third-Party Services
GestaPlena uses the following external services in a limited and optional way:
- Our own backend (apps.devskin.com/gestaplena): receives only the queried name for meaning lookup, forwards it to OpenAI, and returns the result. Queried names are cached for 30 days to speed up future lookups. We do not store personal pregnancy data nor associate queries with users.
- OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini): processes the name to generate the interpretation. OpenAI's data-use policies apply to this transmission.
This feature is optional: if you don't look up name meanings, no data leaves your device.
6. Security
We follow iOS and Android ecosystem best practices to protect your information:
- Local storage protected by the OS sandbox
- Native operating system encryption at rest
- HTTPS/TLS transmission for name meaning queries
- No collection of personally identifiable data from the pregnant user
7. No Personally Identifiable Data Collection
GestaPlena does not collect personally identifiable data such as email, phone, address, or device identifiers. We do not require account creation, login, or registration. The app is fully functional without any external identification.
8. Device Permissions
GestaPlena may request the following permissions, all optional and used locally:
- Photos / Camera: to add images to the pregnancy diary
- Notifications: to send local reminders for weekly milestones
These permissions can be revoked at any time in system settings.
9. User Rights
You can, at any time:
- Access and edit all pregnancy data directly in the app
- Delete diary entries, photos, and checklist items
- Reset the pregnancy (new LMP) or wipe all data in settings
- Permanently remove all data by uninstalling the app
- Revoke system permissions at any time
10. Children
GestaPlena is intended for adult pregnant users. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
12. Medical Care Notice
GestaPlena is an informational tracking tool and does not replace prenatal consultations with your obstetrician or gynecologist. All decisions about health, exams, medications, and well-being should be made together with qualified professionals.
