Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
CarSpot was built to help you find where you parked your car. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the app.
1. Privacy First
CarSpot runs 100% on your device. We have no servers of our own, require no sign-up, login or account, and none of your data is sent over the internet.
2. Information the App Uses
- Location: used to save your car's position, calculate the distance to it and find nearby automotive services. Location is processed on-device and is never transmitted to us.
- Photos: you may optionally save a photo of the spot. Photos stay on your device only.
- Notes and parking history: stored locally via SwiftData.
3. Data Storage
All data (saved spots, photos, notes and preferences) lives exclusively on your device, protected by the iOS sandbox. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all data.
4. Third-Party Services
CarSpot uses Apple's native frameworks, all running on-device:
- CoreLocation / MapKit: location, map and nearby service search.
- UserNotifications: local parking-meter reminders (no external push).
- PhotosUI: selecting/capturing a photo of the spot.
When you tap "Navigate", the app may open Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze (if installed). Your use of those apps is governed by their own privacy policies.
No analytics, advertising or tracking services are used.
5. In-App Purchases
Purchases (subscriptions and one-time purchase) are processed by the Apple App Store. We have no access to your card or payment details.
6. Permissions
- Location (When In Use): to save and locate your car and find nearby services.
- Photos: to attach an image to a parking spot.
- Notifications: to warn you when your parking-meter time is running out.
You can revoke any permission in Settings > CarSpot.
7. Children
CarSpot is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes
This policy may be updated periodically. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
